Shahar is a pro-government, AI-powered CivicTech initiative designed to enable responsive and data-driven urban governance. Built on the core principle of Reality vs. Potential, it works to systematically align on-ground realities with a city’s true potential through technology, analytics, and citizen collaboration.
We are neither armchair activists nor rank newbies to India’s CivicTech ecosystem. Episode Winners of the popular start-up show NDTV Profit’s
The Next Big Online Business Idea, winners of the LEAP Innovation Award, and part of multiple CivicTech cohorts including
The Economic Times’ Changemakers, NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups initiative, Omidyar Network’s Civic Tech cohort,
and CSI SIG eGovernance Initiatives, our team has carried out relentless, hands-on work behind the scenes,
building solutions rooted in over 12 years of real on-ground civic innovation experience.
We have been waiting to step into the foreground at a time when it felt right, and now it does. We are thrilled and proud to pilot Shahar from one of our favourite cities, Pune, a city we believe can set a strong precedent for
other cities across the country, given its diverse demographics and unique civic energy, and a city where we are already working with key stakeholders of civic space including Adar Poonawalla Clean City,
Swach & Pune City Police since close to a decade. Not aiming for a fancy 'Smart City', just a better, liveable 'Shahar' for all of us.
